BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Megan Terry, a standout at Bibb County High School in Centreville, Ala., has signed a softball scholarship with UAB, head coach Marla Townsend announced on Tuesday.
Terry, a shortstop for the Lady Choctaws, led her Bibb County team to a runner-up finish this past season in the Alabama state playoffs. Terry was an all-state selection as a junior in 2004 and played in the Alabama North-South all-star game as a member of the South squad.
She was a member of the Tuscaloosa News' West Alabama Super 10 Team in 2004 and was named the Offensive MVP in the Meridian, Miss. Tournament. She led the Lady Choctaws in stolen bases, runs scored, and home runs during the season. She was also named to the honorable mention all-state team in 2003 as a sophomore.
"Megan is an outstanding athlete who will contribute immediately both offensively and defensively and will showcase as much speed as anyone," said Townsend. "She is a very fast player and can play several different positions, as well as being a good student as she is very sound academically," said Townsend.
"We're very excited we were able to sign her during the late signing period," said Townsend. "She was always our No. 1 choice and we are looking forward to getting her on campus this fall and wearing green and gold."
