STARKVILLE, Miss. - The UAB softball team will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the MSU Softball Field as the teams play a makeup game for a rainout earlier this season.
The Blazers and Bulldogs were scheduled to play for the second time this season on March 22, but a rainout forced the game to be rescheduled for Tuesday. The Bulldogs (25-21) beat the Blazers by a score of 8-3 on March 8 in Birmingham in the first meeting between the two teams.
UAB (19-28, 5-10 Conference USA) will play three non-conference games this week beginning with Tuesday's contest. The Blazers will square off with Georgia Tech in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga. UAB fell to the Yellow Jackets, 3-0, on March 2 at home in the previous meeting this season.
The Blazers dropped two of three games to USF in C-USA play over the weekend after splitting a doubleheader with Alabama A&M last Tuesday in Normal, Ala. UAB has conference series remaining at Charlotte, at home against Southern Miss, and then at Houston to end the regular season. The Blazers will end wrap up the home portion of their schedule with a non-conference DH versus Chattanooga on May 4 at George Ward Park.
Mississippi State holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series which includes three-straight wins. The Bulldogs will begin a five-game homestand on Tuesday which will complete their home schedule for the season. MSU will face Ole Miss on Thursday and then play host to Arkansas this weekend.
