UAB Softball Team To Face Mississippi State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a non-conference matchup at George Ward Park.
The Blazers, winners of three of their last four games, will be playing the Bulldogs for the sixth time in school history. UAB finished second in the 2005 Union State Bank Magic City Classic over the weekend in Birmingham, posting a 3-1 record including a pair of wins over tournament host Samford.
UAB is 2-3 all-time against Mississippi State and dropped two games to the Bulldogs last season, one at home and one in Starkville, Miss. The Blazers will also face the Bulldogs in Starkville on March 22 at 6 p.m.
The Blazers went 2-0 against Samford this past weekend at Bulldog Field while finishing 1-1 against tournament champion Birmingham-Southern. UAB has been victorious in 10 of its last 12 Magic City Classic contests and have won the event three times in four tries.
UAB will meet Troy in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Troy, Ala., as the Blazers continue a busy week. The Blazers then have this weekend off before opening Conference USA play on March 15-16 against East Carolina at home.
The Shelby County Humane Society will be in attendance at Tuesday's game with several dogs available for adoption and will be seeking volunteers for various duties associated with the organization. Tuesday is also 25 cent hot dog night.
