UAB Men's Soccer Opens Spring With 1-1 Tie

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB men's soccer opened its 2005 spring exhibition season with a 1-1 tie against area rival Montevallo Saturday. Freshman Jeremy McLane scored the goal for the Blazers.
"I was pleased with our performance," UAB head coach Mike Getman said. "While the score doesn't show it, we controlled the match for about 80 percent of the time. I thought their keeper did an outstanding job against us. We had probably 15 good chances to score and he played very well. It was good to play someone other than ourselves and get ready for Friday."
The Blazers host Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday night at West Campus Field. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.
