UAB Women's Tennis Continues Homestand By Hosting Charleston Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB women's tennis team hosts Charleston Southern at Brook Highland Racquet Club Sunday at 10 a.m. UAB has had eight days off since their last match, but looks to continue its three-match win streak when they face the Lady Bucs.
The Blazers, who are 7-3 on the season, turned in their best performance of the season, winning four of six singles matches and claiming the doubles point, en route to a 5-2 win over visiting Coastal Carolina on March 4. The Blazers have won three-straight matches and are winners in five of their last six competitions.
Sophomore Samrin Tanzeem continues to be the Blazers' most consistent singles player. Tanzeem is currently 9-1 in dual-match play and 3-0 in Conference USA action. Tanzeem, who is 14- 3 overall in 2004-05, has played all of her matches at the No. 4 position.
Charleston Southern dropped to 3-5 on the season with a 7-0 loss to Hampton on Monday. The Lady Bucs have two juniors and six freshmen on the squad. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. Head coach Randy Bloemendaal is in his first season at the helm at Charleston Southern.
