UAB Continues Weekend By Playing Host To Saint Louis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB women's basketball team continues the weekend by playing host to Saint Louis on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Bartow Arena. The Blazers are looking to bounce back from a 51-47 loss to Memphis on Friday evening.
UAB suffered a tough loss to the Lady Tigers, as Memphis' Tamika Butler hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds to lead Memphis to victory. The Blazers took a 29-19 lead into halftime, but suffered their first loss of the season when leading at the half. Blazer Crystal McFadden led all scorers with 24 points, as she went 11-of-11 from the charity stripe. Christon Ingram led UAB with eight rebounds.
Saint Louis fell to 2-16 overall and 1-4 in C-USA action on Friday, when it lost at USF, 67-49. The Billikens are led by Mia Johnson's 18.1 points per game and Marquita McFarland's 8.0 rebounds a contest. Johnson also leads the team with 36 steals and 63 assists. As a team, Saint Louis averages 57.6 points, while allowing its opponents 72.4 points per game.
UAB holds a 14-5 series advantage versus Saint Louis, but have lost the last three meetings between the two teams. The Blazers fell to the Billikens, 86-74, on Jan. 25, 2004. This will be Saint Louis' first trip to Birmingham since the 2001-02 season.
