BIRMINGHAM –UAB women's basketball (0-2) fell 91-68 to South Alabama (2-0) on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena.

Sofia Munoz led the Green and Gold with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Eleecia Carter recorded 14 points and had five assists, and Riley Talbert added nine points and eight rebounds. Five Blazers tallied steals with Talbert, Munoz and Monae' Duffy leading the way with each registering two.

The Jaguars had five players score in double figures including a game high of 19 by Amyah Sutton. South Alabama shot 53% from the field and 57% from the three-point range.

Game Notes:

UAB hit 9-of-29 from deep (31%), 23-of-60 (38%) from the field and 13-of-15 (86%) at the line.
South Alabama shot 53% (35-of-66) overall and 57% (15-of-26) from three.
Carter had a season best 14 points and five assists.
Munoz (12) and Carter (10) both had double digit points after the first two quarters.
The Jaguars scored 27 points off turnovers and 21 on fast breaks.

How It Happened

Both teams traded baskets early until South Alabama went on a 7-0 (18-9).
The Blazers went on an 8-0 run to tie the game 21-21 to close the first quarter.
Munoz hit a three at the buzzer in the first to tie it.
UAB had a 14-3 run (37-27) to get its first lead capped by a three from Carter.
South Alabama was able to tie the game 39-39 with 1:39 remaining in the second.
USA made a layup to lead by two at the half (41-39).
The lead was extended by South Alabama off a 12-2 run (55-44) in the third.
The Jaguars stretched the margin to 62-52 entering the fourth.
South Alabama outscored UAB 29-16 in the final 10 minutes.
