Blazers Earn 24-Point Win Over Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball (1-2) earned its first win with an 80-56 win over Alabama A&M (1-2) on Wednesday night at Bartow Arena.
In the 24-point win, Cali Smallwood earned a career-high 29 points while adding five rebounds. Sofia Munoz also recording double digit points with 16 and added a season-best eight assists. Eleecia Carter tallied 11 points while Molly Moffitt added nine points to the stat sheet.
The Bulldogs were led by Coriah Beck with 19 points, while Moses Davenport followed behind with 17 points.

- Munoz opened the scoring for the Blazers, sparking a quick 7-1 run to open the game [7-1].
- The UAB offense continued to excel into the first media timeout as the Green and Gold maintained its six-point lead [11-5].
- Munoz knocked down a three-pointer to beat the first quarter buzzer as UAB closed the frame outscoring Alabama A&M 17-4 down the stretch [28-9].
- The Blazers' offense added nine points to open the second quarter, maintaining control of the game [37-19].
- Both squads picked up the defensive intensity to close the half as UAB took an 18-point lead to the halftime locker room [41-23].
- The Blazers opened the third quarter with three consecutive triples, forcing a quick Alabama A&M timeout only 3:10 into the frame [50-23].
- Alabama A&M closed the gap to end the third quarter, outscoring UAB 13-9 over 6:50 [59-36].
- The Blazers and Bulldogs traded baskets to open the fourth quarter as the Green and Gold held a 23-point lead at the fourth quarter media timeout [70-47].
