CLEMSON, S.C. ----- Clemson scored two goals in the final 12 minutes of play to capture a 2-0 victory over No. 29 UAB here Saturday night. The game was the first exhibition contest of the season for both teams. "This was a good learning experience for us," said UAB head coach Mike Getman. "We played a great team on their home field and all of our newcomers were able to get a taste of college soccer. We had a little letdown at the end, but overall I am pleased with our performance." Justin Moore and Olatomiwa Ogunsola each scored a goal for Clemson. The Blazers played strong throughout the game, recording 15 shots, nine of which were on goal. The Tigers recorded 24 shots; however, only had seven shots on frame. UAB's Jerson Monteiro and Clemson's Steven Rhyne each led their respective team's with six shots on the night. Clemson goalkeeper Phil Marfuggi made six saves in the second half to lead the Tigers, while A.J. Robles and Melford James each played a half and recorded two saves apiece.
