Men's And Women's Golf Prepared For Conference USA Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's and women's golf teams are ready to compete at the Conference USA Championship on April 19-21. The men will return to Tampa, Fla., where they will play on the par-71, 7,083-yard, Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club, while the women will play in Fort Worth, Texas on the par-72, 6,197-yard Shady Oaks Country Club.
The men's team finished second in last year's tournament, falling to TCU by just three strokes. Sophomore Tigh VanLeeuwen will lead the team into play, boasting of a team-best 74.56 per-round average. VanLeeuwen has been playing the best golf of his UAB career lately, winning his first-ever individual medallist honor at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
The women's team finished eighth in last year's tournament; however, have all but one player back from last year's team. The Lady Blazers are led by juniors Brooke Mangan and Liz Schweihs who have led the team individually in every tournament but one this season.
The first tee time for each day of the men's competition will be 6:45 a.m. (CDT), while the women will tee it up each day at 8 a.m. CDT. For updated results throughout the championship, please check the Conference USA official website at www.ConferenceUSA.com.
