UAB Women's Tennis Loses At Boston, 6-1

BOSTON --- The UAB women's tennis fell to Boston University, 6-1, here Monday afternoon, as freshman Samrin Tanzeem tallied the Blazers' lone point with a win at the No. 6 position.
"This is the best Boston team I've ever seen," said UAB head coach Mert Ertunga. "They are a very good team and we just weren't able to hang in."
UAB's (4-10, 1-2) Samrin Tanzeem tallied the Blazers' lone point, winning her singles match at the No. 6 slot. Tanzeem defeated the Terriers' Aimee Charest, 6-3, 6-4, bringing her dual match record to 7-5 on the season.
Boston swept the doubles matches for the point. The Terriers' Lindsey Dynof and Charest defeated UAB's Femke de Boer and Marrit Jansma, 8-5, in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 tilt, the Blazers' Annemieke Elsholz and Julia von Samson fell to Boston's Erin Katims and Elena deMendoza, 8-6. In the No. 3 match, the Terriers' Laura Ahmes and Elisa Glas beat UAB's Nadia Dellarciprete and Samrin Tanzeem, 8-4.
The Terriers tallied five wins in singles action. In the No. 1 spot, Boston's Dynof defeated UAB's de Boer, 6-2, 6-1. At the No. 2 position, the Blazers' Elsholz fell to Boston's deMendoza, 6-7, 6-2 (10-1). In the No. 3 tilt, the Terriers' Katims was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over UAB's Jansma. The Blazers' von Samson retired her match against Boston's Glas after losing the first set of the No. 4 match, 6-3. Boston's Ahmes beat UAB's Dellarciprete, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 5 position.
UAB will be back in action on Tuesday, March 16, when they face Rhode Island.
