UAB Women's Basketball Travels To Tennessee Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB's women's basketball team is heading back on the road, as it travels to Cookeville, Tenn., to face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eaglettes on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
This will be the seventh time the two schools face each other with each team having three wins. Tennessee Tech won the last meeting, 63-56, in Birmingham last December.
UAB fell to Ole Miss on Sunday, 67-48. The Lady Rebels used two big runs at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half to defeat the Blazers in UAB's home opener. The Blazers were led by sophomore Carmen Guzman's 15 points and four assists. Ole Miss had a 13-4 run to end the first half, giving them a 37-24 lead at the break.
The Lady Rebels then reeled off an 8-0 run to start the second half and take charge of the game. UAB struggled in the first 20 minutes, shooting 23.3 shooting from the floor, but regrouped in the second half, hitting 45.5 percent from the floor in the final period.
Tennessee Tech improved to 1-1 on the season with an 81-65 win over Florida Atlantic on Nov. 21. The Golden Eaglettes got 19 points, 11 rebounds and five steals from junior Emily Christian. Freshman Kristina Tyler added 15 points and five rebounds.
TTU allowed all five of East Tennessee State's starters to score in double figures, as the Golden Eaglettes fell, 81-77, on Nov. 19. Once again, Tech was led by Christian, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Kendall Cavin opened the year with career-highs of 19 points and nine assists.
