BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team will take the court for the first time in the 2025-26 season when it hosts Shorter in an exhibition on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at Bartow Arena. Admission for the exhibition game is free for all fans.
This marks the first chance for fans to see this year's Blazers under head coach Randy Norton, who enters his 13th season leading UAB. The Green and Gold won 16 games last season and earned a bid to the WNIT for the second consecutive season.
The Blazers added eight new players to the roster including three Division l transfers and one JUCO transfer along with four freshmen. Five players from the 2024-25 roster are back again this season, including Eleecia Carter, Journey Armstead, Riley Talbert, Molly Moffitt and Cali Smallwood.
Thursday's matchup is the fourth consecutive season UAB has faced the Hawks in an exhibition game. The Blazers have won the last three exhibition matchups. UAB has only faced Shorter once during the regular season in 2021. The Green and Gold earned a 76-45 win.
