UAB Women's Basketball Takes On Ole Miss Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's basketball team will have its first home game of the season Sunday, as it hosts Ole Miss at 2 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
UAB fell to Western Kentucky, 92-50, Friday evening in the 22nd annual BB&T Classic held in E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. The game was the season opener for both squads. The Blazers were led by Crystal McFadden's 13 points and five rebounds. Deirdre Larry also contributed with ten points and seven boards. The Lady Toppers jumped out of the gate quickly in the early going, grabbing a commanding 20-5 lead with 7:35 remaining in the first half.
Ole Miss is coming off a 109-67 win over EA Sports in its only exhibition game of the season. Four Lady Rebels tallied double-figures, including a game-high 21 points from sophomore Armintie Price. Freshman Dee Forrest recorded a double-double in her first Lady Rebel game action with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Rebels welcome back three starters from a 2003-04 squad that went 17-14 overall and finished seventh in the Southeastern Conference with a 7-7 record. Ole Miss also received an invitation to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. The Lady Rebels fell in the first round to Villanova, 66-63.
