BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Brianna Berry, a 2004 adidas All-American from Flint, Mich., has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend UAB, according to an announcement by Blazer head coach Audra Smith.
The 6-1 Berry, who attends Flint Southwestern Academy, averaged 20 points and 15 rebounds a game for the Knights as a junior. She was named to the All-Valley team by the Saginaw Valley Conference following the 2003-04 season after being second in the city and conference in scoring. Additionally, she was named honorable mention All-State by the Flint Journal.
In 2003, she made the U.S. Junior Olympic team. The three-year letterwinner for the Knights was also named captain for her senior season and has been her team's MVP for two-straight years. She has tallied 300 or more points in each of the last two seasons.
"Brianna Berry is very athletic," Smith said. "She's a swing-type player. She can play at the 3 spot for us as well as the 4. She's a strong lefty, who is good at penetrating and going to the hole. She's a great rebounder who comes from a strong high school program. I think she's going to be a tremendous asset for us next year."
