Two Blazers Selected In A-League Draft

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Former UAB soccer standouts Marin Pusek and Kareem Morgan were drafted by the Toronto Lynx in the A-League amateur draft, announced UAB head coach Mike Getman. Pusek, a midfielder was chosen third overall in the first round, while Morgan, a defender, was selected with third pick in the second round.
"I am happy and excited for both players," said Getman. "Both Marin and Kareem had terrific careers at UAB and both now have a chance to not only play professionally, but to play near their home town. It is a great opportunity for them and both deserved this chance."
Pusek is a three-time member of the NSCAA All-South Region First Team. The Brampton, Ontario native completed his senior season with four goals, four assists and 12 points. For his career, Pusek played in 74 contests, starting 73 times. He had nine goals, 14 assists and 32 points, and leaves UAB ranked 11th in assists for a career. Pusek also was named to the first-team all-conference for a second consecutive season.
Morgan, a native of Pickering, Ontario, has had a solid career while wearing the Green and Gold. Morgan played in 66 games during his UAB career, starting 53 times. Throughout his career, Morgan developed into one of the best marking backs in the country, always drawing the responsibility of containing the opposing team's top player. He also recorded four assists, four points and eight shots during his career.
