BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's tennis team (9-5, 2-1), winners of four of its last five matches, will travel to Milwaukee, Wisc., for an important weekend of Conference USA action. The Blazers will battle DePaul on April 5 before taking on Marquette on April 6.
The Blazers haven't been on the court since the weekend of March 22-23, when they faced No. 23 Alabama and Georgia State. On March 23, UAB took a 5-1 win against a short-handed Georgia State team, after suffering its worse defeat of the season against the Crimson Tide. UAB had its three-match win steak snapped as it fell to Alabama, 6-0, on March 22.
DePaul took the doubles point against South Florida, but was unable to hold on as the Bulls rallied to win four of five singles matches, for the 5-2 victory over the Blue Demons on March 28. DePaul dropped to 11-9 on the season, 2-1 in C-USA action.
On March 29, Marquette's match with Conference USA rival Tulane was suspended due to weather. The Green Wave had taken a 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches, but play was suspended by rain before the singles portion of the match could begin. The Golden Eagles currently post a 3-13 record, but are 2-0 in conference after wins over South Florida and Saint Louis.
