UAB Softball To Host No. 10 DePaul

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--- The UAB softball team is set to host C-USA Foe No. 10 DePaul on March 21 starting at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader will follow between the Blazers and Blue Demons on March 22, starting at 1 p.m.
The Blue Demons hold the 12-0 series lead over the Blazers. In their last meeting in the C-USA championship game on May 11, 2002, UAB was defeated 2-1 in a gut-wrenching game against DePaul.
UAB (16-12, 1-2 C-USA) enters this weekend's series after coming off a 1-0 victory over in-town rival, Samford. UAB's Kelli Thompson pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the victory.
DePaul enters this weekend's series with a 13-3 season record, including victories over No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 8 LSU, as well as previously ranked Baylor and Notre Dame.
As of March 14, DePaul's Sarah Martz has the highest C-USA batting average at .431. In 16 games, Martz has 22 hits, including three doubles, a triple and a homerun.
Lindsay Chouinard (9-2) heads up the Blue Demon pitching staff with an impressive 0.86 ERA. In 73 innings pitched, Chouinard has given up seven earned runs, seven walks and has struck out 56 batters.
Friday's game between UAB and DePaul has been deemed as ?Dragon Day? and Saturday's game has been designated as ?Adidas Day.? On Saturday, the first 100 Blazer fans to will receive a free Adidas lanyard.
