UAB Softball Opens Season Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB softball team is opening the 2003 season with adrenaline flowing and emotions high after coming off an undefeated 8-0 fall season. Regular season play begins Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at George Ward Park field #6 when the Blazers host the Troy State Trojans.

UAB and the Trojans have played four times previously with Troy State winning three of those games. Their last meeting was on February 11, 2002 as UAB split the doubleheader winning the first game 1-0 and losing the second by the same score.

The Blazers hope to open regular-season play on the same note that it finished the 2002 spring and fall seasons, successfully.
