UAB's 2003 Softball Schedule Announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB has released its 2003 softball schedule, head coach Marla Townsend announced Monday.
The Blazers will face six NCAA Tournament teams from the 2002 season, including Conference USA champion DePaul University. In addition to the eight C-USA teams, the Blazers will face two teams from the SEC and 19 teams from other conferences.
In its fourth year of existence, the softball program will start off the 2003 season of competition facing Troy State here at George Ward Park on Saturday, February 8 with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
The Blazers will compete in four tournaments during the season, including the OU/Nike Classic hosted by the University of Oklahoma, the Compass Bank Invitational at Baylor University, the Red Desert Classic at University of Utah and the Magic City Tournament at Birmingham Southern College.
UAB is coming off an outstanding 2002 season as the Blazers finished with a 39-22 record and were runners-up at the C-USA Championships.
