Women's Tennis Wraps Up Doubles Competition At Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-----The UAB women's tennis team opened its 2002 fall season here Friday at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by the University of Alabama. Friday's competition consisted of three doubles flights.
In Doubles Flight "A", UAB's Natascha Immele and Femke de Boer fell to Liga Geme and Megan McCoy of Arkansas State, 8-6. In the consolation draw, Immele and de Boer lost to Carolina Gago and Suzanna Valeko of Auburn-Montgomery, 8-0, before closing their day by defeating Melissa San Martin and Kelly Taylor of Louisville, 8-4.
In Doubles Flight "B", UAB's Yvonne Ernst and Nadia Dellarciprete lost to Marlieke Jager and Katarina Palenikova of South Alabama, 8-2. In their second match, Ernst and Dellarciprete regrouped to defeat Paige Eber and Jasmin Singh of Louisville, 8-3. Unfortunately, Ernst and Dellarciprete ran out of gas and lost to Sarah Suitor and Isabel Rosenbrock, 8-4 in their third and final match of the day.
Singles competition begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. Saturday's competition will consist of two rounds of singles, followed by the final round on Sunday.
