Aubrey was a one-man wrecking crew
Saturday, driving in four runs on two hits from his designated hitter position
and allowing only one run on five hits as the Green Wave starting pitcher in a
16-1 victory over UAB at Young Memorial Field.
Aubrey drove in a run in the
first inning with a triple off the center field wall, drove in another in the
second with a groundout, and hit a two RBI double to center field in the
eighth.
On the mound, Aubrey (6-1)
worked seven complete innings, allowing one run on five hits, with two walks
and eight strikeouts.
Tulane catcher Brian
Bormaster had three RBI in the game
on two hits, including a two-run single in the fifth inning and another RBI
single in the eighth.? Two other
Green Wave players, left fielder Bryan Stelmack and shortstop Tommy Manzella, had two RBI each, and center fielder Jon Kaplan hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.
As was the case in
Friday's 15-7 Tulane win, the Green Wave had a big eighth inning.? Tulane sent 12 batters to the plate in
Saturday's eighth inning, scoring seven times on seven hits, aided by two
UAB errors.?
UAB's lone run of the
afternoon came in the bottom of the first inning, when center fielder Chad
House led off with a walk, moved to
third on first baseman Matt Womble's single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Quincy
Williams.
UAB starter Ross Dobbins (3-3) allowed six runs on seven hits in four
complete innings, with two walks and one strikeout.
Tulane (20-17, 7-7
Conference USA) and UAB (9-25, 2-12 C-USA) are scheduled to play the third and
final game of their Conference USA series Sunday at 1:00 pm CDT.
