UAB Baseball Named to ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award List

BIRMINGHAM β UAB Baseball was once again named to the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award list, the organization announced on Wednesday. This marks the 11th consecutive season the Blazers have been recognized for this award.
The baseball program surpassed a 3.0 team GPA for the 14th straight year. One of the key pieces in that success has been Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Support Services, Nate Rouse.
"Nate is a rock star and is instrumental in the success of our players academically," said head coach Casey Dunn. "He takes great pride in helping our guys achieve their degrees and helps them prepare for careers beyond baseball. I am proud to say not only did our team do well in terms of GPA, but all our seniors left UAB with their degrees this past season."
30 Blazers finished with a 3.0 GPA or higher this academic year. 17 players finished the year with at least a 3.5 GPA while three finished with a perfect 4.0. The 2025-26 academic year saw the highest team GPA in at least the last five years.Β During the spring 2026 semester, 10 players finished with a 4.0 GPA.
UAB was one of 132 Division I teams honored this season and one of six teams from the American Conference. UAB is also one of 13 Division I teams to be named on all 11 lists since its inception in the 2015-16 season.
The award for the Green and Gold comes after a historic season on the diamond, recording their highest win total since 2015, and racking up school records in home runs (85), bases on balls (297), and times hit by pitch (89).
