Women's Tennis Defeats Jacksonville State 5-2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB (3-5, 2-1 Conference USA) defeated Jacksonville State 5-2, winning four singles matches and capturing two doubles matches to win the doubles point, in women?s tennis action today at Brook Highland Racquet Club.
The Blazes posted victories in the No. 2 and No. 4-6 singles spots. Natascha Immele topped Sophie Desmet 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Femke deBoer knocked off Vanessa Gomez 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 at No. 4 singles, Yvonne Ernst defeated Heather Miller 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and at No. 6 singles, Nadia Dellarciprete outlasted Jessica Gomez 6-4, 6-2.
Monika Schmid and deBoer recorded a 9-8 victory over Desmet and Sally Pearson at No. 1 doubles and Dellarciprete and Ernst sealed the doubles victory for UAB with an 8-4 win over Miller and Gomez at No. 3 doubles.
UAB returns home to Brook Highland Racquet Club Saturday to face Arkansas State at 1:30 p.m. Admission to the match is free.
