Birmingham, Ala. - UAB (18-7, 1-0) played its first Conference USA game tonight against Saint Louis (11-2, 0-1). The Blazers won, 1-0, which makes the winning streak seven games, a UAB softball record.
The Blazers scored the only run of the game when SLU pitcher walked in freshman outfielder Kristin Stanfill (Goodlettsville, Tenn.), 1-0.
The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning because of inclement weather.
Stanfill led UAB going 2-2 with a run scored.
Junior Kerri Foster (McCalla, Ala.) picked up the win for UAB. Foster (7-3) threw five innings for the Blazers giving up only two hits and striking out six.
UAB will play a doubleheader tomorrow against SLU, beginning at 3 p.m.
