UAB's Yvonne Ernst Wins Flight At Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- UAB's Yvonne Ernst won Flight "D" Singles on Sunday at the 2002 Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational. After advancing to the semifinals in four different flights, the Blazers finished the tournament with several strong showings.
In semifinal action, Ernst defeated Zeynep Gurkaynak of Jacksonville State, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the finals. Ernst won the flight by defeating Andrea Feichtinger of Memphis, 6-3, 7-6 (2).
Natasche Immele also won the Flight "A" singles consolation. Immele defeated Alba Garcia of Belmont, 6-4, 4-6 (10-3) in the semifinal round before beating Khuschehr Italia of Cincinnati, 6-3, 6-4 in the final round.
In the semifinal round of Flight "B" singles consolation, Femke deBoer lost to Marina Tasheva of Tennessee Tech, 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) to end her run. The duo of Ernst and Nadia Dellarciprete fell in their semifinal match to Florencia Basile and Emily Vest of Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee, 8-3 in Flight "B" doubles.
