Women's Tennis Team Continues Competition At Middle Tennessee

The Blazers have four semifinal matches to play on Sunday. In Flight "D" singles, Yvonne Ernst defeated Amanda McClure of Southern Miss, 7-6, 6-2. Ernst will face Zeynep Gurkaynak of Jacksonville State. Femke deBoer advanced to the semifinal round of Flight "B" singles consolation after Julie McDonald of Lipscomb defaulted the match. deBoer will face Marina Tasheva of Tennessee Tech in the semifinals.
In Flight "A" singles consolation, Natasche Immele defeated Elly Shearman of UT Martin, 6-3, 6-4, and will face Alba Garcia of Belmont in a semifinal match. Ernst and Nadia Dellarciprete defeated Viktoria Gruber and Andrea Feichtinger of Memphis, 8-4, in Flight "B" doubles. They will face Florencia Basile and Emily Vest of Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee.
UAB did suffer two losses on the day. In Flight "C" singles, Marlene Dirnstorfer of Memphis defeated Dellarciprete, 6-2, 6-3. Natascha Immele and deBoer fell to Melissa Roach and Leisa Brooks of Ball State in the Flight "A" doubles, 8-4.
Competition concludes at Buick Bouldin Tennis Center on Sunday.
