Tulane Beats UAB in C-USA Women's Tennis Finals

Second-seeded Tulane won the doubles matches and finished off three singles matches to take a 4-0 win over top-seeded UAB in the championship match of the Conference USA Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss.
UAB is now 21-3 overall and will await word on an NCAA Regional bid. While UAB was seeded ahead of the Green Wave, Tulane was ranked 51st nationally and UAB No. 61.
Tulane won the number two and three doubles matches, 9-7 and 8-3. UAB's duo of Mirela Vladulescu and Monika Schmid won the only doubles match for the Blazers, 8-6.
In the singles Tulane too wins at No. 2, 4 and 5. UAB was leading in the other three singles matches, when the Green Wave won the deciding fourth point.
Vladulescu's, ranked 22nd nationally, was handily leading Tulane's Anna Monhartova, ranked No. 26, 6-1 4-1 when their match was called.
UAB was trying to win their second C-USA Championship. The Blazers won the title in 1996.
