Women's Tennis Finish Season With Three Match Weekend

The 61st-ranked UAB women's tennis team finished out it's regular season going 2-1 over the weekend taking wins from Cincinnati 5-0 and Memphis 7-0, but falling to Alabama 6-1.
The Blazers finish the regular season 19-2 overall and 6-0 in C-USA.
The Blazers started off the weekend against the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. UAB got off on the right foot winning two of three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Mirela Vladulescu and Monika Schmid , ranked 42nd in the nation pulled off the upset over 29th-ranked Emmanuel Berard and Dominique Glinzler 9-7 at no. 1 doubles. In singles the Blazers fell at all six spots.
The Blazers then travelled to Memphis where they easily defeated two C-USA opponents. First, UAB faced Cincinnati. The Blazers took all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point, and finished four of the six matches to take five points. Singles matches played by UAB's Margaux Melsheimer and Tanja Pflugfelder were not finished.
Finally, to finish off the regular season, UAB faced Memphis. Again, the Blazers took all three doubles matches to grab the doubles point. UAB then sweep the Tigers in singles winning all six matches.
The Blazers will compete in the C-USA Championships on April 19-22 in Hattiesburg, Miss. Seedings and opponents have not been determined yet.
