Women's Tennis Fair Well at MTSU Fall Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The UAB women's tennis team faired well at the MTSU Women's Fall Invitational as junior Natascha Immele won the Flight B Singles and the Flight A Doubles teamed up with senior Monika Schmid.
In the Flight B Singles, Immele (March, Germany) received a bye in the first round, but went on to defeat three opponents before the final match. In the finals, Immele defeated Jovana Krsikara of Georgia State 6-2, 6-4.
In Flight B Doubles, Immelle, teamed with partner Schmid, defeated Monica Gonzalez-Gordo and Sabrina Lindeman of Memphis 8-5 to take the title.
In Flight A Singles, Schmid won three matches before falling to Lupita Hernandez of Tennessee Tech 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 in the finals.
In Flight D Singles, sophomore Nadia Dellarciprete (Dandenong, Australia) won three matches before falling to Karmelina Rivera of Tennessee Tech 6-0, 6-3 in the finals.
In Flight C Doubles, sophomore Femke deBoer (Hazerwoude, Netherlands) and senior Sjouke Liem (Rotterdam, Netherlands) teamed up to win two matches before retiring to Tanja Buchheim and Emily Vest of Middle Tennessee in the finals.
The women's tennis team will compete again next weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
