Mirela Vladulescu Named Conference USA Athlete Of The Month

Senior women's tennis player Mirela Vladulescu has been named Conference USA Player of the Month for October.
The senior from Leimen, Germany posted a 10-1 singles record and a 9-1 doubles record on the season. She won the June Stewart Invitational (Oct. 27-29) in Nashville, Tenn. by defeating no. 51 Katja Kovac of Baylor, no. 16 Julie Ditty of Vanderbilt, and no. 52 Sarah Riske of Vanderbilt in the finals. She also won the doubles title with partner Monika Schmid defeating Ditty/Burson of Vanderbilt.
During the ITA South Regionals (Oct. 27-29) in Mobile, Ala., Vladulescu advanced all the way to the quarterfinals in the 128 person draw before losing her first match of the season.
Earlier this season, Vladulescu also won th Georgia Tech/Holiday Inn Midtown North Invitational (Sept 23-24) in Atlanta Ga. defeating teammate Margaux Melsheimer.
Vladulescu is currently ranked no. 68 on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wingspan pre-season rankings.
