Vladulescu And Schmid Win Doubles Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.... Mirela Vladulescu and Monica Schmid of the UAB women's tennis team defeated Kate Burson and Julie Ditty of Vanderbilt 8-4 to win the Flight 1 Doubles Championship at the June Stewart Invitational on the campus of Vanderbilt University.

In Flight One Singles play, 68th-ranked Vladulescu topped no. 16 Ditty 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the finals. Vladulescu will face no. t-51 Sarah Riske Sunday at 9 a.m.

Nadia Dellarciprete of UAB knocked off Jessica Strickland of Northwestern 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in Flight 7 Singles play.
