UAB head women’s golf coach Ryan Ashburn has announced the addition of professional golfer Olivia Jordan-Higgins as the new assistant coach for the Blazers on Nov. 14, 2018.
“We are extremely happy to have Olivia on board,” Ashburn said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge not only from her collegiate playing days, but she is still playing professionally which will help our team tremendously get to the next level. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together as a team this year.”
A contender on the Symetra Tour for the last eight years, Jordan-Higgins arrives at UAB with an impressive resume which includes winning three professional tournaments on tour, along with 20 Top-10 finishes. Her three wins came at the 2013 Credit Union Classic, the 2014 Prairie Band Casino and Resort Charity Classic and the 2017 Florida’s Natural Charity Classic.
Jordan-Higgins joined the Symetra Tour in 2011 after a legendary collegiate career at Charleston Southern from 2006-2010. She led the Buccaneers to two Big South Conference titles in 2008 and 2010, and won the individual conference championship in 2010.
While at Charleston Southern, Jordan-Higgins racked up 28 top-ten finishes with a career stroke-average of 74.03. She was named the Big South Golfer of the Week 13 times during her career and was honored as the Big South Conference Player of the Year in 2009. Jordan-Higgins was named Charleston Southern’s Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2010 and she was inducted into the Charleston Southern University Hall of Fame in 2017.
Outside of her accomplishments on the course, Jordan-Higgins volunteered as an instructor and a member of the events team for Special Olympics at Charleston Southern. She has also volunteered at the Symetra Tour Junior Clinics since 2011.
“I am very excited to be part of this team. I can't wait for the opportunity to work with Coach Ashburn, to help the girls reach their full potential. We have an exciting future ahead, and a lot of talent in this team.”
Jordan-Higgins, a native of Jersey, United Kingdom, graduated from Charleston Southern University in 2010 with a degree in kinesiology.
