PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – UAB women's soccer (3-5-1, 0-1-0 American) controlled much of the action and held a commanding advantage in shots, but Temple (7-2-0, 1-0-0 American) capitalized on its limited opportunities to hand the Blazers a 2-0 setback Thursday night at Temple Sports Complex.

UAB outshot Temple 21-4 and held 66 percent of the possession. The Blazers also finished with a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net.

The Blazers dictated play throughout the opening half, producing 11 shots compared to just two for the Owls. Avery Berryman forced Temple goalkeeper Ana Zivkovic into a save in the 19^th minute before Caitlin Keeling and Ava Mills each put attempts on frame later in the period.

Despite UAB's pressure, Temple broke through just before halftime. Giovanna Echavarria scored the opening goal in the 44^th minute to send the Owls into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Temple doubled its lead just 20 seconds into the second half when Victoria Pimenta scored off an assist from Madison Abi Aoun.

UAB continued to push forward following the second goal. The Blazers generated three shots and two corner kicks in the opening three minutes of the second half, while Kourtney Osborne forced a save in the 61^st minute. Berryman put another attempt on target in the 75^th minute, and Emily Cole forced Zivkovic into her sixth save of the night in the 85^th.

Berryman led the Blazers with five shots, including two on goal, while Keeling added three attempts. Mia Leath and Lauren Lucero each recorded two shots. Osborne, Mills and Cole also registered shots on target. Zivkovic finished with six saves for Temple.

The Blazers finished with 11 shots in the first half and 10 in the second while limiting Temple to just two attempts in each period. Despite the 21-4 overall shooting advantage, the Owls scored on both of their shots on goal to secure the 2-0 result.

Up next, the Blazers return home for its conference home opener when they welcome Florida Atlantic on Thursday, September 24. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
