UAB Men's Soccer Defeats Central Arkansas for Fourth Straight Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team earned its fourth consecutive victory on Tuesday night, defeating Central Arkansas 2-1 at PNC Field.
UAB has now was four straight games making it the longest winning streak since the 2013 season. UAB's four-game winning streak comes after the Blazers opened the season 0-1-1.
The Blazers (4-1-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Lucas Rizzo opened the scoring in the 30th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Carson Brice. The goal marked Rizzo's second of the season.
Tony Kim doubled UAB's advantage just before halftime, scoring an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute. The goal was Kim's fifth of the season, which means Kim has scored a career high of five goals in a season.
Central Arkansas cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 55th minute when Mateusz Wojtalik scored off an assist from Garner Wolfe.
Ethan Schulz made one save while earning the victory in goal for the Blazers. UAB finished the match with an 11-8 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal.
Kim led the Blazers with four shots, while Rylie Siddall and Lucas Nordin each added two shots.

UAB is back to conference play with a road trip to Charlotte. Kickoff against the 49ers is set for 7:00 on Sunday, Sept. 20.
