BIRMINGHAM – The tables turned from Friday to Saturday as UAB took down Charlotte (24-26, 9-14) with ease as the Blazers (29-21, 13-10) beat the 49ers by a score of 11-2. The Green and Gold out hit the Niners, 13-8.
Much like how Charlotte did on Friday night, UAB reversed the roles on Saturday with four runs in the bottom of the first as the first four hitters reached safely and later scored. After a leadoff walk, a single, a hit by pitch, and a sac fly, the Blazers led, 4-0 through one inning.
The Niners got a run back in the top of the fourth on an RBI base hit by Dawson Bryce to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Green and Gold added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs in the frame. Landon Beaver's third hit of the day was an RBI single to bring around Baylor Roberts who led off the inning with a single. Brady Waugh registered a hustle double to bring around Beaver and Alex Dupuy to inflate the Blazers' lead to 7-1 through four innings.
Dawson Bryce was the lone contributor to the Charlotte production in the game. Bryce drove in Alec DeMartino for his second RBI of the day on a sac fly to cut the UAB lead to 7-2.
The Green and Gold pushed across four more runs in the bottom half of the seventh. Max Price dribbled an RBI single through the middle on a perfect slash and run. Kevin Hall Jr. later doubled down the left field line which scored Price and Wesley Helms. Alex Dupuy capped off the 4-run frame with a sac fly, scoring Hall to put the Blazer lead at 11-2.
Freshman Carter Samuelson delivered what the Blazers needed on Saturday with five innings of work and allowed two earned runs and struck out two on his way to his fifth win of the year. Chase Ingram tossed the final four innings and did not surrender a run. Ingram picked up his second save of the season as the Blazers recorded their 29th win of 2026.
