Blazers Set to Host Final Home Tournament of the Season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -Â The Blazers return home this weekend for the Blazer Beach Bash at the Blazer Beach Courts on Friday and Saturday. UAB welcomes ULM, Tulane, Houston Christian and Mercer to Birmingham. Play begins on Friday at 8 am. The Blazers have an opportunity to finish conference play undefeated for the first time in program history with a victory over Tulane, whom they defeated earlier this season. The schedule for the weekend is below:Â

BLAZERS RIDING RECORD WINNING STREAK:Â UAB swept through their weekend event for a second consecutive week in Atlanta. The Blazers won matches against Mercer, North Alabama, Georgia State and South Florida at the Diggin' Duals to improve their record to 20-9 overall and 4-0 in Conference USA. They have now won 10 matches in a row, breaking the previous school record of 6 wins in a row, set in 2013 and matched in 2016. Â
HAAS AND STANT SELECTED AS CUSA PAIR OF THE WEEK:Â Conference USA announced Tuesday that the duo of seniors Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant were named Conference USA Pair of the Week. It marks the second consecutive week a Blazers duo has earned the honor and the third time this season. Haas and Stant went 4-0 at the Diggin' Duals, improving to 22-7 on the season and extending their winning streak to nine matches. The pair recorded wins over Mercer, North Alabama, Georgia State and South Florida, winning eight of 10 sets during the weekend.Â
BLAZERS STILL KNOCKING ON TOP 20 DOOR...:UAB received eleven votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, marking the fourth time this season the Blazers have been on the verge of cracking the Top 20. Five UAB opponents are currently ranked, including one the Blazers have defeated. UAB has yet to be ranked in program history.
AVA GRACE KNOTT BECOMES THE ALL-TIME FRESHMAN WINS LEADER:Â Freshman Ava Grace Knott set a school-record for wins by a freshman, notching her 21st victory of the season against Mercer. The previous record was shared by current teammates Claudia Stockard and Jasmine Haas. She finished the weekend with 22 victories on the season.
