UAB Hosts Alabama A&M in Final Contest Before Conference Play

BIRMINGHAM – In its final game before American Conference play begins, UAB Baseball (12-8) hosts Alabama A&M (7-14) at Young Memorial Field on Tuesday. First pitch has been moved up to 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Louis Whitlow enters his second full season as the head coach of the Bulldogs after serving as the interim head coach last season. AAMU ranks first in the SWAC in walks (126) and triples (6), and also ranks third in hits (200) and runs scored (139). Jackson Miles ranks second in the league with a .460 batting average and fifth in hits (29). The Bulldogs won their first SWAC series of the season by defeating Alcorn State in two out of three games.
THINGS TO KNOW
- The game promo will be $2 Tuesday, featuring $2 admission (at the gate only) and $2 hot dogs.
- Brady Waugh carries a 13-game on-base streak into Tuesday's game.
- Baylor Roberts has at least one hit in each of his last 10 games, one game shy of tying Alex Dupuy for the longest in 2026.
- Alex Dupuy had two hits in each of the first two games against Belmont. His nine multi-hit games lead the team.
- Brady Waugh led the team with a .385 batting average last week, going for 5-for-13 and added an OPS of 1.115.
- The Blazers are 10-4 at home this season and have defended their home field thanks to the lineup which has six players hitting over .300 at home. As a team, UAB is hitting .321 at YMF with 38 home runs and have outscored opponents 128-93. The Green and Gold are also fielding at a .987 clip at home.
- UAB is 12-0 this season when scoring at least eight runs.
- The Blazers are also 9-0 this season when scoring first.
- John Paul Head's power surge continues to keep him at the top of the American Conference with 12 home runs. Head's 12 homers are tied for fourth best nationally.
- UAB leads The American with 40 home runs. The total is also tied for fifth best in D1 Baseball.
- Senior RHP Chase Ingram will get the start for the Green and Gold, marking his first career midweek start.
