Auburn Runs Past UAB on Tuesday Night

AUBURN – Auburn (14-2) used four home runs and totaled eight extra base hits to power its way to a 17-2 victory over UAB (10-7) on Tuesday night. The Tigers outhit the Blazers, 16-3.
Auburn got out front early with four runs in the bottom of the first. Chase Fralick scored Bristol Carter by way of a fielder's choice. Eric Guevara singled home Chris Rembert to put the Tigers up, 2-0. The McCraine brothers, Brandon and Mason, drove home the latter two runs of the inning to give the Tigers a 4-0 advantage through one.
The Green and Gold answered back with two runs in the top half of the second. Andrew Hunt trotted home thanks to a Wesley Helms sac fly to right. Baylor Roberts knocked in Brady Waugh courtesy of an Auburn error to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Auburn got those two runs back in its half of the second inning. After a bunt single by Bristol Carter, Chase Fralick got the 3-0 green light and hit his fifth home run of the season to put the Tigers up, 6-2.
Five more runs crossed for Auburn in the bottom of the third. Chris Rembert drove in two on a double to left center. Back-to-back home runs, a 2-run home run by Eric Guevara and a solo shot by Bub Terrell put the Tigers up, 11-2 after three innings of play.
Auburn got a single tally in the bottom of the fourth after a leadoff hit by pitch came around to score from first on a Mason McCraine double.
The sixth-ranked Tigers got five more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mason McCraine drove in his second run of the night on a sac fly to score Eric Guevara. Two batters later, Lucas Steele hit his first home run of the season for a grand slam to put Auburn up, 17-2.
NOTES
- The 17 runs allowed is the first time UAB has allowed 15+ runs since April 27, 2024 (Charlotte, 15 runs).
- The Blazers turned their 17th double play which leads the American Conference.
- Baylor Roberts increased his hit streak to seven games.
- With his second inning hit, Brady Waugh upped his on-base streak to 10 games.
UAB returns home for its final non-conference series as the Blazers play host to Belmont. Friday's game is at 5 p.m., Saturday is slated for 2 p.m., and the series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed on ESPN+.
