UAB Breaks Program Record with Six Straight Road Conference Wins

TULSA, OKLA. - The UAB Men's Basketball team (16-9, 7-5 American) beat Tulsa (20-5, 8-4 American) 68-63 on Wednesday night in Oklahoma. UAB was led by a career high 20 points from Dayjaun Anderson and 13 from Evan Chatman.
Tulsa was led by Tylen Riley who scored 15 points and recorded nine rebounds. The team as a whole shot 7-of-26 from three.

- UAB has now won six straight road conference games (seven overall in a row) to break the program record set in 1981-82.
- UAB debuted its 11th different lineup of the season (Anderson, Robinson, Westry, Chatman, Rivera). Anderson made his fifth straight start.
- Played without head coach and two key players (Lindsay-Martin and Meyer). Robinson also left the game due to injury.
- Ahmad Robinson back in the starting lineup first time since January 22 against USF
- Salim London with his defensive rebound helped the Blazers to reach 1000 total rebounds this season.
- For the first time this season the UAB was tied at half.
- Chance Westry scored his 399th career point tonight against Tulsa.
- Dayjaun Anderson surpassed his career high in rebounds (5) and field goals made (7). Anderson also achieved his career best in points with 20 and passed the 100 point mark this season.
- With today's thirteen rebounds, Chatman now has three straight games of 10+ rebounds.
- Evan Chatman with his second double-double in a row with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Chatman surpassed 200 points this season.
- UAB's defense was all over the floor tonight holding Tulsa to just 63 points, which is tied for their season low (against Northern Iowa on Nov. 26).
- UAB shot 38% from the field (25-for-66), 41% from three (9-for-22), and 69% from the free-throw line (9-for-13).
- Tulsa scored the first five points of the game three-point shot by David Green and a jumper in the paint [0-5].
- Tulsa made three out of four from the field, jumping out to a 8-3 lead.
- Dayjaun Anderson started the game hot, making two out of his first three attempts from behind the arc [12-10].
- McPherson hit another three starting UAB 6-of-8 from three-point range and extended the lead to nine points [25-16]
- Evan Chatman got a layup after a Tulsa turnover to extend the lead back to four [29-25]. Tulsa was on a 9-2 before Chatman scored.
- Tulsa hit two free-throws with three seconds left to tie the game at halftime [29-29].
- UAB continued their defense into the second half by holding Tulsa to 3-of-17 from behind the arc [33-29].
- UAB stopped Tulsa in their first eight possessions out of halftime. That included a 11-0 run to start the second half [40-29].
- Tulsa finally went on their run, cutting the lead to just five points [47-42].
- Chatman and Anderson hit a pair of threes after a Tulsa 7-0 run that cut the lead to two. This was Anderson's first points of the second half with just 3:25 to play [57-49]. He scored nine second half points all after the 3:25 mark.
- Miles Barnstable cut the lead to just three points on a fastbreak three with 2:25 left in the game [57-54].
- Trying to break the Tulsa press, Daniel Rivera found an open Dayjaun Anderon for a fastbreak dunk. This put UAB up 61-57 with 1:19 left.
- Anderson and Chatman secured the win making five of the final six free throws [68-60].
- Final score: UAB 68, Tulsa 63
- UAB is back home on Sunday, Feb. 14 against Tulane. Tipoff against the Green Wave is set for 1:00 p.m. CT. on ESPNU.
