Women’s Soccer Draws with Belmont

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer (3-2-2) and Belmont (2-1-3) battled to a scoreless draw on Sunday night at PNC Field.
UAB controlled much of the match, outshooting Belmont 16–6 and holding 59% possession. Avery Berryman had three attempts, while Lailah Stewart and Ava Mills added energy off the bench. Bruin goalkeeper Greta Genie recorded six saves.
Leah Parsons anchored the Blazers defense, making three saves for her third shutout of the season. Belmont created more pressure after halftime, generating all six of their shots in the second half, with Anna Samuel, Olivia Walker and Anay Garcia testing Parsons.
Both teams earned four corner kicks combined, while Belmont was whistled for 11 fouls compared to UAB's eight. The Bruins picked up the lone card of the night, a yellow shown to Anna Samuel in the 21st minute.
The draw extends UAB's unbeaten streak at home, while Belmont remains steady with just one loss in its opening six matches.
Up next, the Blazers open conference play at home when they host Rice on Thursday, September 11. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
