Men’s Soccer Preview: Florida Gulf Coast

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team is back home for a matchup against Florida Gulf Coast (2-2) on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. CT.
This is UAB's second home game of the year and will be hosted at PNC Field. This is the last game before conference play officially starts next week. There will be other non-conference games throughout the season.
UAB went on the road and got their first win of the season at USC Upstate, 3-1. FGCU beat American opponent Memphis 3-1 on the road in their last match.
Scouting the Eagles
Caio Oliveria is leading the team with three goals on just six shots. Arber Shala leads the team in assists with two. In goal, the Eagles are led by Sophomore Oliver Weng, who started three out of the four games. He has 14 saves in his 270 minutes of action. Senior Edson Murguia leads the team with seven shots.
Series History
FGCU leads the series 1-0 with the last result coming on September 9, 2023. The Eagles won the game 2-1.
Common Opponents
UAB and FGCU will have five common opponents throughout the season. The Eagles have played South Florida (L, 2-3) and Memphis (W, 3-1) already with the other opponents being FIU, FAU, and Jacksonville. UAB will play all of these opponents later in the season.

Promotions
The UAB marketing team is hosting Youth Night, where all kids aged 12 and under will get into the game for free and they will be giving away camping chairs while supplies last.
