UAB Places Finishes 13th Argent Financial Classic

BIRMINGHAM – Led by senior transfer Alvaro Huidobro who notched a top 15 finish in his first tournament as a Blazer, the UAB men's golf team placed 13th overall at the Argent Financial Classic to open the 2025-26 season.
Huidobro's tournament was highlighted by a second-round 67 (-5) which shot him up the leaderboard into fourth place. Huidobro shot 71-67-73 = 211 (-5) for the tournament and finished in a tie for 15th place overall. His second round featured six birdies and one bogey.
Huidobro was the only Blazer under par, but following an opening round 75, senior Erik Olin steadily moved up the leaderboard with a second round 70 (-2) and an even par final round to finish at +1 (217) and in a tie for 48th place.
Both Morgan Slaton (74-74-73 = 221, +5) and Alejandro Fierro (71-79-71 = 221, +5) finished in a tie for 68th, while Jonathan Ericsson placed 98th to round out the UAB lineup.
Houston won the team title, while Hudson Weibel of Houston and Malan Potgieter of Louisiana shared the individual title at -13.
The Blazers return to action on Sept. 22-23 with hosting the Graeme McDowell Invitational at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.
