Cross Country Opens Season at Foothills Invitational

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Cross Country travels to Oxford, Alabama to open the season at the Foothills Invitational hosted by Jacksonville State University on Friday, August 29. The women's 5k race is slated to begin at 6:15 p.m.
Head Coach Travis Pope enters his third season at the helm of the program. The Green and Gold return 11 athletes from the 2024 roster. Additionally, UAB added six true freshmen to this year's squad. In total, the Blazers have 17 athletes on the roster with seven coming from the state of Alabama.
24 teams head to Oxford for the women's race. Along with the Blazers, other teams participating are Auburn, Jacksonville State, Samford, Troy, and West Georgia.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
UAB brought home a third place finish in the 2024 race only trailing Samford and Jacksonville State. Lia Castillo (11th), Kyra Hayes (12th), and Ava Brooks (16th) all secured top-20 finishes.
