Five Questions With Defensive End Amorie Morrison

BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt senior defensive end Amorie Morrison brings experience and explosiveness with him from Old Dominion and is expected to be a big contributor this season for the Blazers.
As Morrison gears up for his one and only season at UAB, we got to learn more about him with these five questions.
Talk me through your recruiting process when you entered the portal and what ultimately led you to UAB?
What led me to UAB was the fact that we have the coaches that can get me to the next level, and I can play as a 4-down technique here. I came from a 3-down school and a lot of other schools were recruiting me as a 3-down. I didn't want to stay in that so I could show my athleticism and my play, so that is what got me to UAB.
You missed spring ball with an injury. How was your rehab and what did you do to stay engaged although you weren't on the field?
I tried to be the best teammate possible. I am one of the older guys in the room, so I just tried to help the younger guys out; give them another eye. With them being young, they don't have as much experience as I do. I've been in college since 2020. Rehab wise, I was in there (training room) all day, doing whatever Dan Springer wanted me to do. I still do extra work with Dan and Lyle Henley to make sure I am ready to go.
You're an experienced player who was productive at Old Dominion. What can Blazer Nation expect out of you on the field?
A relentless motor. I feel like I am always moving. I bring energy on every play and I make exciting plays. You will see me in that backfield a lot.
What are your career aspirations once football is over?
I want to do physical therapy. I want to work with athletes so I can be around the game. I have had injuries in the past so I can help the mindset and lend that helping hand.
What is a fun fact or hidden talent you have that most people don't know?
I can dance. I'm Spanish so I have a little wiggle to me.
