Dan Springer started his second stint at UAB in 2016, rejoining the staff as Head Football Athletic Trainer.
In his current role, Springer oversees all sports medicine efforts for the Football program including the daily operations of the Football Operations Center Athletic Training Room and supervision of the football certified athletic trainers and student assistants. Springer also serves on the Department's Mental Health Committee and Concussion committee.
Prior to returning to UAB, Springer spent two seasons as Associate Head Athletic Trainer with the University of Cincinnati Football team. Springer's first stint at UAB began in 2010 as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with Blazer Football, while also serving stints as the athletic trainer for Women's Basketball and Men's Tennis. In 2012, Springer was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer for the UAB Football team.
Springer first started in healthcare as a Pharmacy Technician and also has previous training as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic. Aside from clinical rotations in athletics, Springer had rotations with the Cincinnati Bengals and Orthopedic Surgery - Physician Extender.
A Cincinnati native, Springer earned his Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 and his Master's Degree in Health Education from UAB in 2012.
