Blazers Head to Starkville for Maroon and White Tune Up

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field travels to Starkville, Mississippi on Thursday to compete in the Maroon and White Tune Up hosted by Mississippi State. The two-day event will take place at the Carl Maddox Track & Field Complex.
THE FIELD
Along with the Blazers and Bulldogs, Samford, Louisiana Tech, Hinds CC, and Meridian CC will be the only teams competing this weekend in Starkville.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta April 18-19.
Birthe Franck-Petersen competed in the Shot Put and progressed with each throw. She finished with a mark of 13.74m.
Noelle Hambrick and Victoria Freeland represented the Green and Gold in the Pole Vault. Hambrick tied her Outdoor PR with a mark of 3.70, missing her overall PR by .02m. Freeland finished at 3.55m.
Sangie Lincoln-Velez clocked her PR in the 1500m for the second consecutive week. The junior finished at 4:32.54.
Hope Foster marked her Outdoor season-best in the High Jump finishing at 1.66m. The mark ties her overall PR.
Jasmine Dereje placed 8th out of 48 runners in the 400m Hurdles. The sophomore finished with a time of 59.54.
BLAST FROM THE PAST
UAB last competed in Starkville on March 22-23 of last season. Mya McDanal threw a PR performance in her first attempt in the javelin, placing her third in the event with a mark of 42.52m. Birthe Franck-Petersen had a notable showing in the shot put, where she finished with a 13.08m throw, placing her tenth in the conference with her performance.
