UAB Wins Both at West Georgia

Game 1
Hannah Miles started UAB off with a triple in the first inning that scored Hannah Dorsett. This was Miles' sixth triple of the year. The scoring did not stop in the first as West Georgia walked Miles and Hope Tucker home. UAB led 3-0 after one inning.
Zero runs came across the plate in innings two and three. Bella Wiggins hit a triple in the fourth inning to score one run. She now has the most triples in UAB Softball history with 14. Hope Tucker and Lindsey Smith also drove in runs to give the Blazers a 6-0 lead after four innings.
Tait Davidson struck out four batters allowing just two hits and zero runs.
Rylee Green singled in the sixth inning to score West Georgia's first run of the game. Two more runs came across in the sixth to cut the UAB lead in half 6-3.
Mackenzie Droddy drove in Ashlyn Shirah with a double to left field. This extended UAB's lead to four runs. West Georgia did answer in the bottom of the seventh with two runs of their own. Despite that UAB came away with the win 7-5.
Game 2
UAB once again scored in the first inning, but this time Hannah Miles scored on a wild pitch. The Blazers kept the foot on the gas in the second inning with an RBI single from Aguilar and a Miles RBI single.
Five runs in the third opened an 8-0 lead for UAB, starting with Jenna Madsion driving in Shirah with an RBI single. Brantlee Wortham added her name to the stat sheet with a two RBI double for her ninth of the year. The scoring stopped in the third inning with Miles driving in her third RBI of the game.
A three-run home run by Blaire Bizette cut into the UAB lead. The Blazers led 8-3 after three innings.
Nine runs came across in the fifth inning to widen the lead to 14 runs (17-3). A bases loaded hit by pitch on Hope Tucker scored another run for UAB. Two more runs came across on an RBI double by Lindsey Smith. She now has 41 career doubles. Ashlyn Shirah stepped up and hit a double as well to score another run. Ja'nae Wray got in on the scoring when she hit a two RBI double. Hannah Miles hit another double to score a couple more runs. UAB led 17-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Hannah Miles went three for three with two doubles and four RBI. Wray got her first RBI of the year tonight. The retired the side and moved to 22 wins on the year.
The Blazers are back in action on Friday as they host East Carolina for a three-game series.
