Conner Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List

BIRMINGHAM - UAB pitcher Brendan Conner has been named to the Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Conner, a true freshman from Corner, Alabama is one of 56 relief pitchers honored on the list.
Conner has struck out 22 hitters in 32.1 innings and has allowed just six walks. The freshman carries a 3.06 ERA into the final month of the season. He did not allow a walk through his first three outings of his career. In those three outings, he recorded three 9-out saves.
His 16 appearances is currently second on the team and his five saves is tied for first.
Conner is one of six freshmen in Division 1 baseball to be named to the list.
There are 21 conferences represented on the list, with the Southeastern Conference leading the way with nine relief pitchers. The Atlantic Coast Conference follows with eight, while the Big 12 Conference has five. Other multiple-selection leagues included: the American Athletic Conference (3), the Atlantic Sun Conference (3), the Big East (2), the Big Ten Conference (3), the Big West Conference (2), Conference USA (3), the Mid-American Conference (3), the Ohio Valley Conference (2), the Southern Conference (2), the Summit Conference (2) and the Western Athletic Conference (2).
The NCBWA will announce the finalists on Wednesday, June 4, with the winner being named on Friday, June 13 at the 2025 College World Series.
