Beaver Secures American Conference Player of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM – For the second time this season, UAB's Landon Beaver has earned an American Conference weekly superlative. After tallying his first career conference award as an Honorable Mention on April 27, Beaver records his first career player of the week honor after his performances against Troy and UTSA.
Beaver picked up a fifth inning single on Tuesday against Troy in the Blazers' final home game of the season. Along with the other UAB bats in the lineup, the sophomore Phenix City, AL native exploded on the offensive end in San Antonio over the weekend. Beaver finished the 3-game series going 7-for-13 with a team high 15 total bases and a 1.154 OPS. Beaver also racked up six runs scored, five RBI, two home runs, two doubles, and a stolen base in a series win over the Roadrunners. He also picked up a multi-hit game in all three contests at UTSA, tying his career high with three hits on Friday night.
The sophomore utilityman is the eighth different player to earn all-conference honors this season, but is the first UAB player this season to earn honors for a second time. He now leads the team with 21 multi-hit games this season.

The Blazers head to Clearwater, FL for the American Baseball Championship. UAB clinched a first-round bye with Thursday's win at UTSA. The Green and Gold will await the winner of (8) Charlotte vs. (5) Memphis. The winner of that game will take on UAB on Thursday afternoon, 47 minutes after the conclusion of the morning game.
